According to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons over 300,000 hip replacements are performed each year. Surgical approaches, hip prostheses and rehabilitation protocols have changed dramatically over the past five years. It’s critical for movement professionals to stay informed on recent advances in hip replacements and care.

Long before a client gets a hip replacement they’ve developed many compensations and non-optimal movement patterns because of pain and loss of motion. In this workshop, participants will learn about the issues that lead to a hip replacement(s), and explore detailed information on the multiple types of prostheses, surgical approaches and contraindications. Discover how to use therapeutic Pilates to restore hip and pelvic control and unwind the patterns of compensation throughout the body. Pilates programming and modifications are specially selected to restore the strength, balance, proprioception and reflexes required for daily life, sport, and quality living. This is a three hour, intensive workshop for Pilates specialists with teaching experience.
